Vesper’s Ellen Tomek Named 2017 USRowing Athlete of the Year

Just off of a silver-medal performance in the women’s double sculls at the 2017 FISA Rowing World Championships, Ellen Tomek has been named the 2017 USRowing female athlete of the year.

“Tomek made history at the 2017 World Rowing Championships in Sarasota-Bradenton, FL, [in September] by winning silver in the women’s double sculls. Along with teammate Meghan O’Leary, the U.S. crew became the first ever American boat to medal in the event at the world championships.

A native of Flushing, Mich., Tomek began her rowing career at the University of Michigan, where she graduated with a degree in Economics, is a two-time Olympian and nine-time national team member.”
