Megan Walsh and Catherine Reddick won a Silver Medal this morning in Mexico!
6 boats covered the first 500-m in a pack; Cuba and Argentina leading followed in short order by the US and Canada, with Brazil, and Mexico about bow to stern down to the lead group.
By the 1000-m mark both the US and Canada had toppled the fast starting Argentinians and separated from the rest of the field. Canada took a big move at the 1000-m and Meg and Catherine did a great job of countering and by the 1500-m mark the US was overlapping bow to stern with Cuba and Canada had fallen to a small open water deficit.
The US mounted a huge charge, posting the fastest 500-m of the race in the last 1/4 but Cuba was somehow able to cling to a narrowing lead and Meg and Catherine finished in Silver Medal position by less than a second.
