West Windsor, NJ — Vesper Boat Club’s Michelle Sechser secured her position on Team USA, for 2018, by winning the USRowing National Team Trials, in the lightweight women’s single sculls.
Michelle rowed from behind—until the final 250m—to defeat the current 2000m ergometer world-record-holder, Christine Cavallo, by nearly 3″, in a time of 7:43.4.
This is Michelle’s 7th appearance on Team USA.
In 2017, Sechser, and teammate Emily Schmeig, earned a bronze in the lightweight women’s double sculls, at the FISA World Rowing Championships, in Sarasota, FL.
The 2018 FISA World Rowing Championships will be in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, September 9 – 16. Team USA athletes are expected to fundraise 100% of the cost of the trip, if they are not in a boat designated by USRowing to receive funding. Please consider making a tax-free donation, through Vesper Boat Club, to help fund Michelle’s pursuit of excellence.
